Julia Loughnane studied architecture at University College Dublin and has over 20 years of professional experience working on cultural and commercial projects globally. She joined David Chipperfield Architects in 2012 and has served as a director since 2021. Julia has contributed to a wide range of significant projects, including 30 Grosvenor Square in London and the Dunard Centre concert hall in Edinburgh. Currently, she oversees the development of Muzej Lah, a new art museum in Slovenia, as well as the restoration and conversion of the historic Jenners building in Edinburgh.

In addition to her project work, Julia has co-led several strategic studio initiatives aimed at strengthening design culture and enhancing professionalism across the practice. As Director of People and Place, she is responsible for bringing together the dynamics of people, place and design culture, and for the transformation of the Little Portland Street studio into our new home.
