Julia Loughnane studied architecture at University College Dublin, graduating in 2001. With 11 years’ experience working on cultural projects, she joined David Chipperfield Architects in 2012, becoming an associate in 2018, associate director in 2020 and a director in 2021. Julia has worked on residential and hotel projects both in London and internationally. Most recently, Julia has acted as project architect leading the design and delivery of a number of prominent cultural buildings in the US and Europe including the Lah Contemporary in Slovenia and the Dunard Centre music venue in Edinburgh. She has been a visiting critic at architecture schools in the UK and Ireland.
