Simon bench

The Simon bench is a visitor‘s seat that was developed for the James Simon Galerie, the new entrance building on Berlin’s Museum Island. The design by David Chipperfield was realized in collaboration with the Frankfurt furniture manufacturer e15. The two metre bench comprises a slim, ten millimeter frame made of powder-coated steel and the seating surface itself, which is crafted from a complex sandwich system of natural leather, steel and flat functional upholstery. As a result of the high-quality production and the minimal material thicknesses, the bench has a light appearance while at the same time providing a high degree of comfort.
