Benito Blanco joined David Chipperfield Architects in 2014, becoming a director in 2018. Working across all projects in the London office, he is responsible for setting out the projects’ organisation and framework, ensuring a rigorous design process, and defining and maintaining a strong managerial structure through to delivery. Benito was project director for the extension and reconfiguration of Selfridges on Oxford Street and the conversion of the former US Embassy building, both in London, as well as the transformation of Banco Santander’s historic headquarters in Spain. Current projects include two headquarters buildings: one for Rolex USA in New York and a second for a South Korean IT company in Seoul. He was Vice President and Secretary of Fundación RIA between 2017 and 2022.
Prior to joining David Chipperfield Architects Benito held senior positions at OMA and Herzog & de Meuron where he worked on cultural, commercial, residential, retail, hospitality, transport and urban masterplanning projects. Benito studied architecture at the ETSAM, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and has over 25 years of professional experience.
