Markus joined David Chipperfield Architects in 2006 and became an Associate in 2017. He brings extensive and diverse experience in the design of private houses, office and museum projects throughout all stages of design. Markus led the developed and technical design of the Kunsthaus Zürich and served as Project Lead for a wide range of projects, including Carsch-Haus Düsseldorf, a private residence in Zurich and most recently the adaptive re-use office project Trinkaus Karree in Düsseldorf as well as the conversion of a heritage complex in Munich.
After training as a carpenter, Markus pursued an education in architecture at the Universität Kassel and gained experience working at a practice in Berlin before joining David Chipperfield Architects.
