The Rede tableware collection, is a collaboration between the Galician ceramics company Sargadelos and David Chipperfield. The design draws inspiration from local fishing nets and buoys as well as traditional Japanese ceramic forms, and combines these with the expertise in relief crockery that Sargadelos has been developing in the Castro de Samoedo factory.

Making use of the surface relief possibilities that are particular to porcelain, the tactile net pattern stretches over the forms of the ceramic pieces, emphasising both their surface and their overall shape. The pattern adapts to volumes onto which it is applied, tightening and stretching across the widest parts then loosening and contracting over narrower parts.

The collection is made up of seven pieces: a cup, a tall bowl, a low bowl, two plates, a salad bowl and a vase. Each piece comes in four colors: the pure white typical porcelain, Sargadelos’ traditional cobalt blue, a tile pink and a mustard yellow.
