Ulrich Goertz began his long-standing collaboration with David Chipperfield Architects in 2001 and was appointed Associate in 2006. Ulrich has acted as Project Lead for several significant projects, including the Empire Riverside Hotel in Hamburg, the Kaufhaus Tyrol Department Store in Innsbruck and the Office building Europaallee office building in Zurich. Most recently, he led the revitalisation of the historic Bötzow Brewery in Berlin, a project that entailed the renovation of the existing structures as well as the addition of four new buildings.  As an expert in sustainability and DGNB Registered Professional, Ulrich furthermore provides sustainability advice on diverse projects within the practice.

Ulrich Goertz studied architecture at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen and the University of Washington and has been working as a qualified architect since 1991. Prior to joining David Chipperfield Architects in 2001, Ulrich was involved in the planning of the Reichstag in Berlin.
