Ryan Butterfield joined David Chipperfield Architects in 2009 after completing his architectural studies at Kingston University. He has a particular expertise in conservation and planning issues and has worked on several large-scale restoration and conversion projects in sensitive London locations, including Café Royal Hotel on Regent Street and One Kensington Gardens in West London. He has also led numerous competitions and studies in the UK and internationally. Ryan is currently project architect for the conversion into a hotel of the former US Embassy building on Grosvenor Square in London. He was made an Associate in 2019 and an Associate Director in 2023.
