Michael Freytag joined David Chipperfield Architects in 2000, becoming Associate in the Berlin office in 2004. He has led a wide range of projects and is currently Project Lead for the refurbishment of the Haus der Kunst in Munich. Prior to this, Michael co-led the refurbishment of the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, together with Daniel Wendler. As Team Lead, he was responsible for the new build rooms within the Neues Museum project from design development to completion. He has furthermore been Project Lead for a number of projects, including the Parkside Apartments on Potsdamer Platz and the Forum Museumsinsel, both in Berlin.
Michael studied architecture at the Technische Universität Berlin and has been working as a qualified architect since 1993. Further to his responsibilities as a Project Lead, Michael played a central role in introducing the quality management system at David Chipperfield Architects Berlin.
