Billy Prendergast joined David Chipperfield Architects’ London office in 1998 after studying architecture at the University of Portsmouth. He was made a director in 2013. Billy is responsible for design and concept development of projects and competitions worldwide. He assists the project architects and teams to ensure a focused and investigative approach to design that is embedded in the practice’s larger body of work. As a Studio Director, Billy oversees several current projects in the office including the Parliamentary precinct in Ottawa and The Grand residential project in Belgium.
During his time with the practice Billy has worked on a wide variety of projects and design competitions around the world, including the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center in Alaska; the Hoxton Press residential development in London; and a 32-storey mixed-use tower on Bryant Park in New York.
