Following his training as a draughtsperson, Robert Westphal studied architecture at the Technische Universität Berlin, graduating in 1994. He gained work experience in several different practices, before joining the Berlin office of David Chipperfield Architects in 2004. Robert’s main field of expertise is in technical design stage as well as in site design supervision. He has made a significant contribution to the planning of a number of projects in the office, including the Empire Riverside Hotel in Hamburg, a laboratory building for Novartis in Basel, the Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten in Frankfurt am Main, the extension of the Kunsthaus Zürich, Amorepacific headquarters in Seoul and the office building Richard-Strauss-Straße in Munich. In 2017 Robert became an associate at David Chipperfield Architects Berlin.
