David Chipperfield Architects has been granted planning permission for the last two of three urban blocks developed in collaboration with Vera Associés, Aires Mateus Associados and local architects AIA.

The two blocks include a mixed-use tower and a social housing building with timber structure designed by the office. Construction on an office building – designed for flexibility and a potential future conversion into apartments – as well as three further buildings on the first block will begin in the coming weeks.

The development forms part of a wider master plan designed by Herzog De Meuron to create a highly sustainable, dense and lively urban quarter on Lyon’s central peninsular, La Confluence.
