A reflection by David Chipperfield on the evolving nature of architectural practice as traced through his earliest projects to today. The lecture considers how the experience of projects, most notably the Neues Museum, have shaped an approach to practice that continues to inform both building and research projects. Recognising the impact of the built environment on quality of life, the conventional boundaries of practice must be questioned and expanded.
