We are looking for 2-4 people with a profound interest in architecture and leadership, ready to play a key role in the future direction of our office: its projects, design approach, sustainability efforts, digital tools, and office culture.
David Chipperfield Architects Berlin was founded in 1998 in a portakabin on Berlin's Museum Island, at that time for the reconstruction of the Neues Museum. Since then, we have designed and realised over 100 buildings of various types and sizes around the world. Our identity is shaped by our architectural work, and our focus is increasingly on reuse and heritage. We are known for our careful approach to context, materials, and resources. David Chipperfield Architects Berlin currently has around 120 staff.
Over the next few years, there will be a generational change in our leadership team. This transition has already begun, supported by a comprehensive internal transformation based on the principles of the collegial leadership model. The first expansion of our leadership team took place last year.
We are now continuing this process and are looking for 2-4 people who are ready to shape and actively design the coming decade of a renowned architectural practice by:
- the strategic content and architectural development of our portfolio
- the development of our design methodology, particularly in the areas of monument preservation, sustainability, and digital design
- the development of our distinctive office culture
Each leadership role will be combined with an operational role in a project or in management.
Responsibilities:
As part of the overall leadership team, each of the individuals we are looking for will play a key role in shaping the company. The central task is to take responsibility for the content and strategy of further development in the respective field. Each person will provide guidance, create sustainable framework conditions, and initiate noticeable, effective changes that contribute to the long-term quality and competitiveness of the organisation.
Specifically, it concerns:
- Developing a vision and strategic direction
- Planning and managing strategic goals
- Representing the office internally and externally
- Leading and developing the assigned team
- Designing and communicating change
- Designing framework conditions for effectiveness and implementation of goals
- Good collaboration, cooperation, and leadership in the extended management circle

Qualifications:
- Degree in architecture or other diploma/master's degree with relevant architectural experience
- Approx. 5-10 years of professional experience in the field of architecture, preferably with design and monument preservation skills and/or sustainability skills and/or digital design skills
- International and interdisciplinary experience is not required, but is welcome
- Very good written and spoken German and English skills
