Data analyst, London

The Transformation and Knowledge team at David Chipperfield Architects is looking for a data analyst to work at the intersection between people, processes and systems. We are currently reengineering the digital practices of the company from the ground up. We are looking for someone to facilitate data-driven decisions across the practice by building well-designed visualisations of information across all aspects of the practice. The role involves data visualisation, data modelling, building and maintaining dashboards, and research and development into using data capture and potential applications in architectural building design.

Key Responsibilities

Data modeling: Maintain and evolve the database structures of our applications, their integration workflows and transparent documentation to form our single source of truth, continue the integration process of various historical and current data sources.

Data visualisation: Deliver analytical insights to various departments to enable data-driven decision making by designing, developing and maintaining clear and concise data visualisation dashboards.

Training and enabling: Advance the digital transformation of the practice by strongly engaging with people across the office, championing a data-driven approach, educating and mentoring all areas of the practice to improve their processes.

Continuous development: Engage with the strategic working groups and follow a programme of research and development in information systems, data capture, analysis and visualisation, including potential applications in sustainable architecture and digital design.


Skills Knowledge and Expertise

— Excellent knowledge and experience with Power BI and other data visualisation tools
— Good knowledge of SQL and the design of data structures
— Outstanding user of Microsoft Excel (including Macros, Developer Tools) as well as strong data wrangling skills to join data from different sources
— Excellent communication skills, to tell concise stories based on data in graphical and tabular formats to a diverse range of audiences
— Ability to work with a variety of people from different disciplines
— Basic literacy in at least one coding language


Personal

— A Bachelor's degree and over two years’ work experience working in data analysis or data visualisation, or a Masters or PhD with at least one year of work experience
— Driven, hands-on doer and problem solver with an appetite for coding, automation and data wrangling
— Analytical, creative or conceptual thinker to understand complex information and explain it in a simple and consistent way
— Curious and interested in working at the interface between digital technology and architecture
— Match the practice’s ambitions in relation to the quality of our own work, sustainability in the built environment and be comfortable in joining an inclusive, diverse and collaborative practice
