Hospitality and front of house, London

David Chipperfield Architects is a leading international practice with offices in London, Berlin, Milan and Shanghai. DCA London is looking for an experienced person to run our inhouse canteen and to help with our busy reception.


Reporting to the Office manager, you will be responsible for coordinating a wide variety of activities from meeting and greeting visitors to answering the phone and looking after our staff at our new offices on the Strand. This full time, permanent role demands a dedicated self-starter with team spirit who shares our creative ambitions.

Working hours: Usually 9am – 5:30pm with one hour for lunch but the occasional early start or late finish is required for events.


Responsibilities:


Hospitality

— Welcoming all visitors to our office: taking coats, showing to meeting rooms, offering refreshments, proving breakfast or lunch when required and clearing up after all meetings.

— Ensuring catering and beverage supplies for the office are in adequate supply and quality (e.g. tea, coffee, fruit, milk)
— Making sure the canteen, coat racks and toilets are presentable all times and that all equipment is ready to clean and ready use (coffee machines, dishwashers, fridges etc)
— Manage the office calendar/meetings room bookings and the general ‘info’ email: forwarding emails received to the right departments.
— Co-ordinating internal and external events (office breakfasts, summer and Christmas parties, talks with external speakers, films nights, staff birthdays and other milestones etc)
— Working closely with our cleaning company, ensuring premises are clean following our standards.

Reception

— Answering incoming calls, taking messages
— Dealing with incoming and outgoing post
— Signing for deliveries
— Arranging taxis and couriers


Skills and competencies


Essential

— Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
— Excellent communications skills
— Strong multi-tasking skills
— Ability to work under pressure
— Passion for hosting/organising events
— Self-motivated, with positive problem-solving attitude

Desirable
— Completed Food hygiene training
— Health and Safety for Food Workers or similar course pass
— Certificate qualified First Aider
