The opening of the Anselm Kiefer pavilion was celebrated with a reception on 12 October, attended by Reinhold Würth, Wolfram Weimer, Minister of State for culture, and the artist himself, Anselm Kiefer.
Located in the sculpture garden of museum Würth 2 at the Carmen Würth Forum in Künzelsau, the Anselm Kiefer pavilion is the latest addition to the site’s cultural landscape. Dedicated to the encounter with a single work of art, the pavilion houses the monumental Schwarze Flocken (2007). Measuring eleven metres in height and seven metres in width, it is the largest work by Kiefer in the Würth Collection.
In his speech, David Chipperfield reflected on his longstanding collaboration with the Würth Group: "It has been a great privilege and honour to have been involved over many years in the realisation of Reinhold Würth’s vision for the cultural campus in Künzelsau. A project that not only demonstrates his enduring commitment to the arts, but also his conviction that art should form part of everyday life, and even the working environment. The Anselm Kiefer Pavillon continues this vision, extending the cultural programme that has developed there over many years."
The Anselm Kiefer pavilion opened to the public on 13 October 2026.
