This May marks 20 years since the Figge Art Museum opened in Davenport, Iowa and 100 years since the institution’s founding as the Davenport Municipal Art Gallery in 1925.

The museum has become a landmark on the redeveloped Mississippi riverfront with its simple volumetric block, enveloped by opaque, transparent and translucent glass. The interior integrates exhibition spaces with educational areas such as lecture facilities and library resources.

To mark the anniversary, an exhibition, the Figge will present "Model Museum," a special exhibition running 1 July through 31 August. The exhibition explores the design of the museum through original sketches and models.
