On 19 June, the Board of Directors of the National Capital Commission approved the 50% schematic design concept for the Block 2 site redevelopment in Ottawa, Canada. David Chipperfield Architects and Zeidler Inc. won an international design competition for the reimagining of the urban block in 2022. The site, which faces Parliament Hill and is bounded by Wellington, Metcalfe, O’Connor, and Sparks streets, will provide office space for the Senate of Canada, the House of Commons, the Library of Parliament and retail space for the public. The next major milestone is the 90% schematic design.
