Construction work has started on the restoration and conversion of the iconic Jenners building on Princes Street in Edinburgh. The former department store, which operated continuously from the same building from 1895 until its closure in 2020, will be reopen as a department store with a hotel on the upper floors. With the scaffolding now up work can begin on repairing the sandstone façade, while the interiors will see insensitive additions removed, surviving features restored and lost elements reinstated. Work is expected to complete in 2027.
