The public has voted and Team Cultural Maze’s proposal, Roots of Heritage, has been selected as the winner of the People’s Pavilion 2023 competition. Bruno, Tomi and Zhané, three young aspiring architects and designers from the East London Borough of Tower Hamlets, designed their pavilion to be made of renewable and recycled materials. They were supported in their efforts by David Chipperfield Architects. The team will now see their pavilion design brought to life in the grounds of Lea Bridge Library in Leyton and will attend the opening of the Venice Biennale in Italy.
David Chipperfield Architects’ London office is sponsoring the People’s Pavilion initiative that seeks to empower young people through design. The design competition invites 14- to 18-year-olds from across East London to work collaboratively and in partnership with professional practices to design their own temporary pavilion.
