The Elbtower project has taken an important step towards its realisation with the City of Hamburg approving the development plan. Set to become the tallest building in Hamburg, the Elbtower forms a key part of the Hafencity masterplan. Designed by David Chipperfield Architects Berlin the building will act as an entrance marker on the eastern edge of the new quarter and form a counterpoint to the Elbphilharmonie to the west. Construction is due to start later this year, with completion scheduled for 2025.
