“Paris is becoming green” is the title of Britta Sandberg’s recent article in the German weekly magazine Der Spiegel which includes extracts from an interview with David Chipperfield and covers the practice’s Morland Mixité Capitale project in the city. The article discusses how Anne Hidalgo, mayor of Paris, is driving change in Paris’ urban development in order for it to remain liveable. Hidalgo’s “ecological transformation of the city” includes closing off streets to cars, creating new bicycle paths and planting trees, but also bringing living and working closer together. As an example of the latter, Sandberg selects Morland Mixité Capitale, a project currently under construction in central Paris.
