The new entrance building on Berlin’s Museum Island, the James-Simon-Galerie, has received the DAM Preis 2020 at an award ceremony on 31 January at the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) in Frankfurt am Main.
The prize, which has been awarded annually since 2007, honours contemporary German architecture. The project was chosen by a jury from five finalists, selected from a longlist of over 100 projects. The event coincided with an exhibition opening at the institution which features the five finalists and will run until 10 May 2020.
It is the second time that the practice has received the DAM Preis, having received the honour for the neighbouring building, the Neues Museum, ten years ago.
