On the 28 December a ceremony marked the handover of the Zhejiang Museum of Natural History in China. The 54,000m² museum is set among forests and hills in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Zhejiang province. Composed of eight low-rise exhibition pavilions arranged around a central garden, the buildings are embedded in the landscape, following the sloping topography of the site. The relationship to the natural surroundings is further strengthened by the green roofs and the red ochre façade which matches the clay earth of the hillside.
