David Chipperfield will edit ten issues of the Italian architecture magazine through next year with the first available in early January. A monograph of the practice’s work and a manifesto for the year ahead, titled ‘What is our role?’, will be published as supplements in the Domus December 2019 issue.

Through his editorship David will draw attention to the changing role of the architect and the need for vision in order to protect the intangible qualities of place and to confront the challenges of climate change and social inequality.

David will be the third architect to edit the magazine as part of Domus’ 10 x 10 x 10 project, where ten architects edit ten monthly issues in the ten years leading to the magazine’s 100th anniversary in 2028. He follows Italian architect and designer, Michele De Lucchi (2018), and Dutch architect and urban planner, Winy Maas (2019).
