The Korean Institute of Architects (KIA) has honoured the Amorepacific headquarters with a KIA Award recognising the best architecture of the year. The building, which opened in June, represents a different approach to high-rise office building. The roughly cuboidal form creates, through a larger footprint, more options for social and public activities on the lower floors, while a central void and large openings in the façades create elevated gardens, providing daylight and views.
During the ceremony, which took place in on Jeju Island on the 12 October, it was also announced that David Chipperfield has been appointed as an Honorary Fellow member by KIA and the International Union of Architects (UIA).
