Today, a groundbreaking ceremony took place for the Carmen Würth Forum, located to the south of the German town Künzelsau. The project, designed by David Chipperfield Architects Berlin for the company Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG, comprises an event hall and a chamber music hall.

Situated in the direct vicinity of the company’s headquarters, the building is embedded in the landscape, which it integrates as an architectural theme. The uppermost level of the event hall venue is glazed on all sides and sits at the highest point of the site, providing space for up to 3,500 visitors. The more intimate concert hall, situated below ground level, seats up to 500 people. Completion of the two halls is scheduled for 2017, coinciding with Carmen Würth’s 80th birthday.

A conference centre and a museum for Reinhold Würth’s extensive art collection are due to be realised in a second phase of construction. The overall project originates from an international competition, which was won by the Berlin office in 2007.
