Full planning permission has been achieved for Elizabeth House and 10 Leake Street, marking a very significant milestone for the project, and one which took nearly 5 years to achieve.
In March this year, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Eric Pickles decided against holding a public inquiry into the redevelopment project which had already achieved a resolution to grant planning permission from Lambeth Council in 2012. Leader of Lambeth Council Lib Peck stated that the council ‘has always believed the Elizabeth House development is absolutely consistent with the government's National Planning Policy Framework, it is fully supported by the Mayor of London and will bring considerable economic, social and cultural benefits to the area’.
