The two-day colloquium ‘Form versus function. Mies und das Museum’ at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin kicked off yesterday evening with a mission statement by David Chipperfield. This was followed by a panel discussion with the artist Willem de Rooij, the exhibition designer Meyer Voggenreiter and David Chipperfield, and moderated byNeue Nationalgalerie director Udo Kittelmann.
The colloquium brings together architects, artists, academics, curators, and architectural conservators to address the building’s dual role both as an important monument and outstanding museum. David Chipperfield spoke about the upcoming refurbishment of the building due to start in the new year.
