On the second day of the ‘Form versus function. Mies und das Museum’ colloquium, David Chipperfield Architects Berlin presented the refurbishment project of the Neue Nationalgalerie in detail.
The design director Alexander Schwarz spoke about ‘Conceptual questions regarding the refurbishment project’, followed by managing director Martin Reichert talking about the scope of work and the planning process.
The project architects and their team presented five case studies – the steel glass façade, the curtain in the upper hall, the garderobe and the museum’s shop, barrier-free accessibility and the exhibition rooms on the lower level.
