David Chipperfield met with the British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg at the Neue Nationalgalerie during his visit to Berlin. While touring the ‘Sticks and Stones’ exhibtion, they discussed Berlin’s urban regeneration and the importance of Anglo-German relations.
Before his visit to the Neue Nationalgalerie, the Deputy Prime Minister met with the Federal Minister of Economics Sigmar Gabriel to understand how a lively start-up scene can revitalise city centres. Also on the agenda for his visit was a discussion about Europe with students of the Hertie School of Governance.
In connection to the topics discussed with the Deputy Prime Minister, the British Ambassador Sir Simon McDonald and David Chipperfield will be hosting a private event - ‘Britain in Berlin’ - at the Neue Nationalgalerie this weekend to celebrate Anglo-German relations and debate the wider considerations of Europe not only as an economic market but as a cultural reality. Recent discussions about Britain's role in the European community and the possible forthcoming referendum add poignancy to this event.
