Together with British Ambassador Sir Simon McDonald, David Chipperfield hosted a private dinner at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin on Saturday 29 November. The event celebrated Anglo-German relations and encouraged debate on the wider considerations of Europe not only as an economic market but as a cultural reality. Recent discussions about Britain's role in the European community and the possible forthcoming referendum added poignancy to the event. Speeches were given by the hosts and various guests, such as Monika Grütters, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as well as Baroness Blackstone (former UK Minister for the Arts).
